The population was 572 at the 2000 census.Perhaps the most famous person to live in Nassawadox was Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, a popular bluesman in the 1940s and '50s. Three songs that he wrote were performed by Elvis Presley early in his career ("That's Alright, Mama"; "So Glad You're Mine"; and "My Baby Left Me.") Crudup worked in Nassawadox in the '50s and '60s after leaving the music business. He went back to playing music in 1961, for a short time, even touring abroad. Crudup died in Nassawadox in 1974.
